Who you are letting in
Georgian Bay Cleaners is run by Kayla Mulrooney, out of Wasaga Beach. We look after homes here, in Collingwood, in Barrie, and across the surrounding parts of Simcoe County.
Letting somebody into your home is not a small thing. Most of our clients are at work while we are there, which means handing over a key and trusting whoever is on the other side of the door with everything behind it. Photographs on a wall. A drawer you would rather nobody opened. The whole shape of how you live.
We do not take that lightly, and most of how this business runs comes back to it. Turning up when we said we would. Doing what we said we would do. Telling you plainly if something got missed, rather than hoping you do not notice.
Georgian Bay Cleaners is small, and that is deliberate. I am on the cleans myself rather than running things from a desk. Everyone who works here, myself included, holds a police record check and is fully trained on safety and cleaning protocols before setting foot in a house, and the business carries full insurance for residential and commercial work.
How this started
I started in 2018 with one client and a plan to help her get organised. That client told somebody, who told somebody else. What became clear fairly quickly was that people not only needed help with tidying, but they needed the cleaning taken off their hands altogether. They were working. They had small children. They did not want to spend the only free hours of their week on it.
Then I had a baby, the pandemic arrived, and I spent the next stretch taking a break from working to raise my child.
When I came back to it, I went and worked for other cleaning companies first. I interviewed at a fair few and took jobs at several, and it was the same story every time. Prices far higher than the work justified, and crews pushed through houses at speed so another job could be fitted in before the day ended. Everybody was stressed. Nobody was doing their best work.
That is why this business exists. The idea was never complicated. Charge a fair price, take the time the house actually needs, and do the job properly.

What I clean with
About 95% of what I use is eco-friendly, and that is a deliberate choice rather than a marketing one. I am in these houses all day, and so are my staff. Whatever is in the bottle, we are the ones breathing it. So are your pets, your kids, and you, long after we have gone home.
Pet messes get enzyme-based products, which pull the acid out rather than covering the smell up. Covering it up never works. It just masks it.
The other 5% is the honest part. There are a handful of jobs where nothing gentle will shift it, and for those I keep something stronger and use it only when it is genuinely needed, or when you ask me to. And if you would rather I used your own products, leave them out and I will.
How we work
Your home gets its own price
No two houses take the same amount of time, so we quote yours rather than reading a number off a chart. You get a real figure before anything is booked.
The clean is shaped around you
Every checklist on this site is a starting point. Ask for more time in the bathrooms and less in the spare room, or skip a room entirely this visit. It is your house.
Nothing lands as a surprise
Add-ons have set prices, published in full. If something changes or an area has to be skipped, you hear about it from us rather than finding out later.
It is usually the small things
The toilet paper gets folded before we leave. Boats, flowers, diamonds, sometimes a pocket. Nobody asks for it and it is on no checklist anywhere.
The same instinct runs through the rest of it. The toilet brush and the plunger get dusted and wiped, because they are usually just moved aside and put back. The water line behind the toilet, which is nearly always furred with dust. Bathroom vents, which need a particular sort of duster to reach down into the grooves. The lightbulbs inside the lamps. The tops of white doors. The ledge under the window, once the shutters are open.
And where a chair can be lifted rather than vacuumed around, it gets lifted.
None of it is dramatic. It is just the difference between a house that has been cleaned and a house that has been looked after.
